Garage Door Has Gap On One Side
Move the garage door up and down until you find a place where the door stays suspended when you let go.
Garage door has gap on one side. Rats need no more than the size of a quarter. If your door has a gap on one side or the other when it s closed the problem is most likely due to a break or other issue with one of the extension springs. Unscrew the strike and slide. This will help you create a flat and level surface so the gap will close.
The door runs are housed in a garage door track one on each side of the garage door. Mice can squeeze through a garage door gap the size of a dime. Maybe someone bumped into it recently. Repairing your garage door springs can be a dangerous job due to the weight of the door.
If the gap along the side of your door is so large that the latch won t catch or barely catches adjusting the strike can reduce the gap to ensure proper operation. Or it could just be that the hardware has become loose over time. Gaps along the sides and top of the door let in wind rain and snow and gaps along the floor let in not just weather but also critters. If you ve had your door for a while or are in and out of it a lot it can easily end up out of alignment.
If this has happened to you you can add more concrete to the floor in order to bring it back up to the right level. If that point is more than four feet or less than three feet above the ground you will need to balance the door.
