Glue Mirror To Wood Back
I need to glue a 1 4 inch oak plywood to the back of a mirror bathroom cabinet made from 3 4 inch red oak.
Glue mirror to wood back. Step 5 place the mirror on top of the plywood and gently press down over the entire surface so that the mirror grips the glue and sticks to the wood underneath. Then put vertical lines inside the perimeter of glue 1 to 2 inches apart. I do not want to damage the silver backing on the mirror by using the wrong glue. But what glue is the best for.
Don t if a fracture or a change of style happens removing a glued mirror is a major task as is the glue remnants from the wood. Glue the scrap wood to your scrap glass and allow the glue to cure for as long as its packaging recommends. When applying glue to the wood that will potentially be seen in the mirror take care to apply the glue on the side away from the reflective edge so as not to see the glue in the mirror or get spill over. Run the adhesive tube in lines up and down the wood surface making sure to apply a line close the edge so that the mirror sticks to the entire piece of wood.
When choosing wood to glue to the mirror remember that your mirror will reflect the back edge of your wood piece so it must be finished to make it match the front of the wood. Step 2 put a bead of construction glue on the back of the mirror that you are gluing about 2 inches from the edge all the way around the perimeter. There are hundreds of glues out there and of course they all claim to be the best. Glue type for a mirror back to wood.
Test your glue with scrap pieces of wood and glass.
